Contemporary Kitchen ExtensionsPublished on 26th September 2019
It’s strange to think that there was once a time – not that many years ago – when the kitchen wasn’t the place to be.
The kitchen used to be a place of drudgery. Anyone who was anyone would never have dreamed of setting foot in theirs. The kitchen was the realm of the workers, hidden away a la Downton Abbey. Later down the line, kitchens were small, dark spaces were food was prepared, before being transported to the dining room in houses big and small.
Today though, the kitchen is truly the heart of the home. A real part of the home that the whole family can enjoy. The kitchen is often the nicest, busiest and most attractive part of the house. Whether that’s thanks to the hustle and bustle of daily life, or the hum of a friend filled party.
Whether hosting hand-carved oak cabinets, gleaming modern stainless steel, or a spot of shabby chic, our favourite kitchens are open plan. Open plan doesn’t just mean open spaces indoors, though. Even a modest kitchen can feel expansive when you bring the outdoors in. You don’t need a huge amount of space to make a huge amount of impact.
Glazed folding-sliding doors opening directly from the kitchen will bring masses of light into the house. This in turn creates the illusion of much larger spaces. When it comes to parties, this also means you can throw open the doors for warmer weather and spill outside. Combined with a glazed veranda it could be the perfect solution.
For properties with a slightly larger garden, a bespoke lean-to conservatory would work wonderfully to enlarge your kitchen. Our bespoke designs allow you endless possibility for your new kitchen extension. With even more glass on hand to deliver extra light and garden views.
