Kenton Lodge

Glazed Link & Garden Room

Kenton Lodge

The Brief

Kenton Lodge is an assisted living facility with true style. Having grown to accommodate it’s many happy residents the building consists of a large manor house, juxtaposed against a separate modern apartment building. Our brief was to connect these two buildings and their styles through a glazed walk way for residents to use when the weather makes crossing between buildings none too fun.

The Process

Our designer suggested a snaking glass and aluminium linked walk way structure and incorporated a large sun room part way through the design. This addition proposed a stunning space where residents could get together to enjoy the beautiful grounds, whatever the weather. The sun room would follow a traditional design in keeping with the original building, and use sympathetic polyester powder coating to become one with the, soon to be adjoining, modern apartment building.

The Result

The result is a contemporary yet complementary new addition to the range of buildings that make up the interesting mixture of new and old architecture at Kenton Lodge. Once furnished, the sun room will act as the perfect meeting point for residents and staff alike. Patio doors branching of either side of the main glazed walk way lead out onto the the grounds and allow easy access to the outdoor space when the sun shines – with the link itself always on hand when it doesn’t! The walk way makes for a grand tour through Kenton’d Lodges outdoor areas and offers up relaxation and rest in the spacious garden room.
