Before & After: Three Case Studies

Published on 27th May 2017
It is always satisfying to see the completion of a new Apropos project, but more so when it can be compared with what went before. Here are three case studies of Apropos projects that show the difference before and after installation

Case study 1: Edwardian property gets new lease of life with lean-to conservatory

Before and after: The infill, lean-to conservatory

This Edwardian home in Stourbridge benefits enormously from an infill, lean-to conservatory; designed, manufactured and installed by Apropos.

After 20 years occupancy, the owners felt the time was right to extend their living space, by converting an enclosed courtyard into this wonderful bespoke conservatory; allowing them to link up their main property with an original outhouse, that would become a second bathroom.

The result is a contemporary aluminium and glass structure that sympathetically complements the original property; allowing the property to retain elements of the original courtyard, and maximise living space in the property.

Case study 2: Orangery improves outstanding Edinburgh period property

Before and after: The Edinbugh orangery

Apropos was proud to be involved in this sympathetic, high-spec renovation project; designing and installing the orangery’s rooflight, folding sliding doors and windows, for this four-bedroomed, ground floor, listed apartment in Edinburgh.

The orangery replaced a tired, timber-framed conservatory that was beginning to rot.

The owners wanted to give the property a ‘wow’ factor, whilst retaining some elements of traditional design. The orangery provided this ‘wow’ factor in spades; resulting in an extension that acts as a focal point for the home; allowing for increased flow with the exterior and an aesthetically perfect marriage of period detail, cutting-edge design and craftsmanship of the highest order.

Case study 3: Enlightening Winchester kitchen extension

Before and after: The Winchester kitchen extension

The owners of this Winchester home wanted a bright, spacious living area that would act as a hub for family life and social entertaining; so they ditched their traditional wooden kitchen, and replaced it with an ultra-modern, multi-functional extension that is part kitchen, part dining room, and part living room.

Apropos designed, manufactured and installed three bespoke sets of folding sliding doors and a large skylight to complement them.

The new extension now acts a natural heart for the whole property, linking all aspects of family activity in one multi-functional room, and providing its owners with a bright and inviting living space whatever the weather.
