Extensions for every budget.

Published on 2nd December 2013

Moving home is said to be one of the most stressful life events, second only to bereavement, and yet the debated benefits of moving vs improving always roll on – largely because many people don’t comprehend A) what can be achieved with a little bit of imagination, and B) that a large budget isn’t always required for life-changing results.

This week we’d like to show you a few examples of just what you could get for your money if you choose to improve with Apropos.

Modest

If you have some funds to invest in your home, but don’t want to blow your rainy day resources there are plenty of ways in which you can alter the feeling and functionality of your living space.

Like most bespoke companies, at Apropos we have a minimum order value (£13,500 +VAT), for which you receive detailed architect consultations, planning assistance and a high quality finished product. But, what might that product be? Well, aside from the abstract benefits of a lighter, brighter, modernised home with improved thermal efficiency, you’d have yourself a choice of premium products.

Among our favourite home-enhancers are our Aprofold doors, which can fold and slide to either side of an aperture, allowing you freedom of access, merging indoors with out and effectively delivering a year-round view while reducing your need for artificial lights.

Alternatively, you could illuminate your upper storey with a skylight; create an orangery from a flat-roofed extension by adding a roof light and a set of patio doors; or ‘make an entrance’ with a gorgeous glass veranda from the Apropos Outdoor Living range.

Mid-range

If you’re looking to create an impact and your finances are a little more flexible, it’s an easy matter to make much more of your home. For a mid ranger buyer , glazed wall inserts could transform your attic from dead-space to a functional office, gym or extra bedroom, or a sleek glass balcony could open up your upper storey and make your bedroom appealing for more than just sleeping.

For a little bit more of your budget, an orangery or conservatory extension could create a glorious kitchen-diner designed to suit your exact requirements, or add an extra ground floor room to use as you see fit; with modern glazing a conservatory is not just for summer.

Luxury

Atrium 1

If money is no object, the only thing stopping you is your imagination. A double-height atrium could grace your home, making an impressive entryway, home-hub, or a rather grand light-well, letting the sun’s rays penetrate your house to the core.

The true natural light-lover with no near-neighbours could do away with walls and replace all but the most important structural and privacy-givers with bi-fold doors and glazed wall inserts.

Externally, the horticulturally minded could indulge in the most elaborate of greenhouses, the sporty relax après-swim in a sumptuous pool room, or the hobbyist indulge in an Atelier Garden Studio purpose-built for optimum performance.

At Apropos we like to think that we offer something for everyone, no matter how modest or extravagant their aspirations or budget. If you have a project you’d like to discuss we’re only a phone call; 0161 342 8206, or a mouse-click, away. Alternatively you can book a free, no obligation design consultation here
